LINESPACING AND LEADING

Leading and Linespacing are synonyms. They both refer to the vertical space between lines of text.⁣

Tight leading is hard to read.⁣

Loose leading is hard to read.⁣

Somewhere in between tight and loose is 'just right.'⁣

There is no “rule” for leading. If you can read it easily, it is right.⁣⁣

Default leading is almost always too tight. I almost always make the leading looser than default.⁣

Headline text usually has tighter leading than body text.⁣

Use the width of a vertical stroke as your measurement between descenders and ascenders for a nice feeling leading in headlines. This is not a hard rule, just a good place to start.⁣
