Linespacing and Leading
LINESPACING AND LEADING
Leading and Linespacing are synonyms. They both refer to the vertical space between lines of text.
Tight leading is hard to read.
Loose leading is hard to read.
Somewhere in between tight and loose is 'just right.'
There is no “rule” for leading. If you can read it easily, it is right.
Default leading is almost always too tight. I almost always make the leading looser than default.
Headline text usually has tighter leading than body text.
Use the width of a vertical stroke as your measurement between descenders and ascenders for a nice feeling leading in headlines. This is not a hard rule, just a good place to start.
