Know Your Audience

It is undeniable that design is artistic in nature. Many designers are also amazing artists. However, the fundamental difference between “design” and “art” is that an artist creates until they are satisfied with the work. A designer creates until the work effectively communicates to a target audience

Designers must understand the characteristics and limitations of the target audience.⁣

Audience Characteristics Talk with your design client. Ask them about their audience. Define the core characteristics of their target audience.

Audience Limitations

Accessibility One billion people worldwide have a disability of some kind. Designers must understand the accessibility needs of their target audience.⁣

Legibility Know your audience and ensure that your target user can read see the content properly.⁣

Eye Flow What countries are you designing for? What is the standard flow of their eye movement?⁣

Placement How much time will the user be exposed to the design? How quickly must it be consumed and understood

Design is finding the best solution to a problem within the limitations of the problem.
