Instagram Is Your Account Dead

FIRST LET'S YOUR SYMPTOMS

NO HASHTAG IMPRESSIONS

Hashtags are always hit or miss and they're changing the algorithm constantly, but be mindful if impressions drop off a cliff.

LOSING FOLLOWERS ON THE REGULAR

If you notice a sudden decrease in followers day over day, this could be a warning sign that your account is in trouble.

ENGAGEMENT DROPS OFF A CLIFF QUICKLY

If you notice your engagement drop off a cliff, and you've posted at the right time and your content is good, this may be another warning sign that your account is in trouble.

ERROR NOTICES FROM CERTAIN ACTIONS

If you start getting error notices when trying to update your profile, or can't seem to post to stories, this is another warning sign that your account is in trouble.

CHECK IF YOU'VE BEEN BLACKLISTED

You're not showing when other users search for your account in the search barn

Other users have to type your full name into the search bar for your account to show up in search at all.

Other users have to mysteriously 're- follow' you after following you for a while.

How DO I KNOW?

For 6 to 8 weeks last summer, I couldn't do anything with my account.

All because of a random graphic that the 'algorithm' thought was a negative image.

IF YOU'RE NOT SHADOW BANNED HERE ARE REASONS WHY YOU DROPPED

Most of the time, you're not really blacklisted, you're just not putting out high quality content. #sorrynotsorry

It's usually a sign for you to audit your content and strategy and make adjustments where needed. It's also a subtle nudge to get back to the basics and start providing tremendous value.
