Instagram Anatomy Of DM

How Instagram Handles Dm's

HOW CAN YOU WRITE GOOD DM'S,

If you don't even know how they work and how instagram wants you to use them?

FIRST THINGS
FIRST ACCOUNT TYPES

There's 3 different types of accounts on Instagram, personal, business, and creator., and that's important because DM's appear different on each type.

We'll examine the Creator account type here and how the DM's are structured specifically for creators.

HOME PAGE

Here is where a user has access to the Direct Messages on Instagram.

*Messages in the Primary and General tab will show a badge count on the Message Icon. Messages from the Requests tab won't.

PRIMARY

Messages in your primary tab are from people your connected with or from messages you purposefully move there.

*This tab is sorted chronologically based on last message sent/received. This is where you want to be.

GENERAL

Messages in your general tab are also from people your connected with or from messages you purposefully move there.

*This tab is sorted chronologically based on last message sent/received. This is okay spot to appear.

REQUESTS

Requests for creator profiles get filtered automatically into either Top Requests (accounts that Instagram thinks will be beneficial to the user) and All Requests (All other requests that the user receives).

*Users access all requests via the blue hyperlink on the top right side of the Messages tab. More than 9 requests will show '9+ Requests'.

TOP REQUESTS

Requests for creator profiles get filtered automatically into either Top Requests (accounts that Instagram thinks will be beneficial to the user) and All Requests (All other requests that the user receives).

*Requests are sorted by importance based on which messages Instagram thinks you'll respond to. This is a less than ideal spot to be as they don't show up in your badge count on your home page.

ALL REQUESTS

This is dead mans land. Your message request has fallen into the abyss with all the other messages the user may have gotten.

*This list is sorted chronologically based on when it was received. This is the worst spot you can be when it comes to DM's. The user is least likely to see it here.

DID YOU KNOW ABOUT ALL THESE DM FEATURES?

Let me know in the comments if you found this valuable.
