How To Solve This Simple Yet Surprising UI Design Problem?

These white text on colored background looks good, but surprisingly it fails the color contrast ratio of 4.5:1

So, should we use darker colors?

This passes the color contrast ratio test but oops...don't you think these colors look really bad overall?

Accessible doesn't have to mean ugly.Right?

So how do we solve this?

You can solve this problem by flipping the contrast. Instead of using light text on adark colored background, use dark colored text on a light colored background

The color is still there to help support the text, but it's way less in-your-faec and doesn't interefere as much with other actions on the page.

Yay!! We did it
