FORGIVENESS POINTS: The Unspoken Currency of Busines

At some point in the lifecycle of your business relationship with a client, something will go awry. When that happens you will need their forgiveness, or you will lose the client.⁣

Forgiveness points are the currency you spend for a client to overlook your inevitable flaws.⁣

When you start a new job or land a new client, you start with zero forgiveness points.

Over time you build up forgiveness points through good work and quality client experience.⁣⁣

Forgiveness points are spent when things go wrong.⁣

When your points go negative, you will likely lose the client. Remember, you start with zero, so be sure not to mess up the very first project.⁣

Forgiveness points are usually earned at a slower rate than they are spent

Amaze your clients for as long as you can, because, someday, you will have a disaster project with nothing to see you through but forgiveness points.
