Don’t Steal Don’t Copy
DON’T STEAL DON’T COPY
GREAT ARTISTS STEAL. This quote is most often attributed to Pablo Picasso, (but it might be T.S. Eliot or Igor Stravinsky). Too many people think this means it is ok to steal. It isn’t.
ASK ANY “GREAT ARTIST” HOW THEY FEEL WHEN SOMEONE STEALS FROM THEM. STEALING SUCKS! If you share someone else’s ideas without permission and proper citation, it is stealing.
Even if you change it a bit, it doesn’t make it yours.
The things we consume in the world inspire what we think. This is inspiration.
Design inspiration takes a lot of elements from a lot of places and combines them into something new. The final does not look like any of the sources.
If you see any quote from anyone advocating stealing or copying, don't believe that it makes it ok. You can be original.
