Q: Can we earn well as a graphic designer?
A: Be great at it and you’ll earn a lot more than you think. My earnings far exceeded anything I’d ever envisioned when I first started.

A: People skills
Q: How do you prevent stress that is inevitable in this industry?
A: Agh. I didn’t do well with this. About 5 months after I sold may agency I went to counseling to work on my PTSD. I still couldn’t shake habitual stress from running my agency for 13 years, even though I didn’t have the risk any longer. Sleep. Exercise. Diet. All critical.
Q: How do you prevent negative emotions from affecting your creative drive?
A: Tough one. Stay around positive people. Shun negative people. Watch your inner dialogue. Are you negative to yourself? Count your blessings. Be grateful.
Q: Best quality of a professional designer going freelancer?
A: Courage. Some money in the bank. Courage. A sales strategy. People skills. Courage. Some money in the bank. Courage. Courage.
Q: From your experience, which advice can you give to a newcomer?
A: Never stop learning.
Q: How can someone overcome imposter syndrome?
A: Most people are just “figuring it out” same as you. Once you learn that, you won’t feel like an imposter anymore.
Q: Biggest piece of advice for a new business?
A: Be nice to everyone.
Q: Did you ever work for super brand like Coca-Cola, Apple, Samsung etc.?
A: I billed more money to Disney than any other client over 13 years. Google was my agency’s biggest client for our final three years. My agency also worked with NBC, ABC, Fox, Warner Bros., National Geographic, Kraft, YouTube, Pepsi, TV Guide, HBO, etc.
Q: Are you building a new agency? ]
A: I’m working on courses, books, speaking, workshops, and business coaching. No new agencies for me.
