3 TYPES OF ROADMAPS IN PRODUCT AND UX DESIGN

A 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 is a 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰, 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 that prioritizes, and communicates a team's future work and problems to solve.

There are 𝟯 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀 of roadmaps teams create, depending on their goal, context, and audience.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽

Represents the future problems needed to be solved. This includes high-level teams like design, engineering, marketing, sales, etc.

𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 (𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻)

Represents the future problems needed to be solved by a specific field with the Product Roadmap. For the design field, this includes research, context, and UX.

𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽

Represents the future problems needed to be solved by a specialty within the Field Roadmap.

These 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽𝘀 are good for collaborating 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 and driving one 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.
